Palazzo Strozzi presents Natalia Goncharova

Palazzo Strozzi welcomes Natalia Goncharova in a large exhibition that uses the Russian artist’s paintings to tell the story of the brave and unique life of one of the most innovative personalities in 20th-century art and culture.

From 28 September, in the halls of Palazzo Strozzi, you will be able to admire the paintings of Natalia Goncharova alongside works by her contemporaries such as Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Umberto Boccioni, in a journey containing 130 pieces of art, many of which have never before been exhibited in Italy.

The Palazzo Strozzi exhibition is a unique opportunity to study the life and works of this exceptional protagonist of the Russian avant-garde, having dedicated her life to art in the name of experimentation. An unconventional woman, Natalia Goncharova (Negaevo, Tula, 1881 - Paris, 1962) divided her life between her native country, Russia, and Paris, where she devoted herself to painting, design, theater, and fashion.

The exhibition "Natalia Goncharova. A Woman of the Avant-garde with Gauguin, Matisse, and Picasso" will open this coming 28 September and will remain open until 12 January 2020. Palazzo Strozzi is a pleasant fifteen-minute stroll from the Convitto della Calza, or can be reached with the number 11 bus which stops nearby.
