Dawn of a Nation, Exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi
From 16 March to 22 July 2018 Palazzo Strozzi displays masterpieces of Italian contemporary art in an exhibition entitled Dawn of a Nation. Between Guttuso, Fontana and Schifano: a journey through art, politics and society in Italy between the Fifties and the 1968 protests through eighty works by artists such as Renato Guttuso, Lucio Fontana, Alberto Burri, Emilio Vedova, Enrico Castellani, Piero Manzoni, Mario Schifano, Mario Merz and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
The cultural ferment and the economic boom after the Second World War, the deep transformation of Italian society of the 60s, are also reflected on art in a 'tourbillon' of movements and languages: Realism, Abstraction, Informal Art, Pop Art, 'Arte Povera', Conceptual Art.
An exhibition of great interest for anyone who appreciates Italian art of 1900 and wants to understand and deepen the environment in which it has developed.
